Comments The primetime sporting events, no matter familiar for Chinese audience or not, were rated higher than those in late night. Men's double trap on CCTV 5 from 19: 27 to 20: 14, a sport only a few Chinese could participate in, was rated the highest at 8.4%. It may lead in to the second high rating 6.2% for women's handball preliminaries, Ukraine vs. China from 20:18 to 21:01. Men's basketball preliminaries (New Zealand vs. China), Yao Ming's second Athens game, was broadcast on CCTV 5 from 14:00 to 15:47 and the rating reached 3.6%. In this July, the average rating in that particular time slot was only 0.2%, according to CSM. Women's individual sabre semifinal (Tan Xue vs. Jacobson) was rated 3.5%, which also brought more audience in front of TV than usual considering that the average rating from 23:30 to 24:00 on CCTV 5 in July was 0.3%.
