According to news released on the "Invest Beijing-Market Promotion Conference on Olympic Economy" held in Beijing from April 18-19 2004, the tenders for purchasing the construction materials for the National Stadium and the Wukesong Cultural Sport

Representatives of the National Stadium Co. and the Wukesong Cultural Sport Center Co. released the background information, progress of construction, materials needed for the construction, plans for tenders and the tendering process on the two projects respectively on the Conference.

The National Stadium will mainly require materials such as the steel structure, membrane materials, electric systems, indoor and outdoor water supply and drainage systems, air conditioning, fire systems, torch systems etc. The tender for purchase will be carried out according to the progress of the stadium construction. According to the representative, the construction blueprint for the steel structure will be completed before the end of May 2004, and the processing and installation of the steel structure, as well as the purchase for the retractable roof and membrane structure will be completed before the end of June 2004. 

For the Wukesong Cultural Sport Center where the Beijing Olympic basketball competition will be held, the project will start in June 2004, and will tender directly for large and important equipment and materials. Top suppliers will be chosen based on the factors such as their technical, management levels, credibility and reasonable price, involving construction materials, water supply and drainage systems, air conditioning and ventilation systems, electric and power supply systems etc.
