The first annual 2004 CSII International Sports Forum, Beijing will be an exclusive gathering of dedicated Chinese and international experts exchanging ideas on one of the most promising industries in China. Due to the forthcoming Olympic Games in Beijing and the fact that China is becoming more and more of a focal point for sports, the State General Administration of Sports for China is focused on advancing the commercialization of the sports industry. The International Sports Forum organized by China Sports Industry International (CSII) in conjunction with the State General Administration of Sports of the P.R. of China and the Chinese Olympic Committee, has invited a distinguished panel of speakers to provide insights into the most crucial topics of today’s challenges within the sports industry. The forum will therefore provide an excellent opportunity for international representatives not only to gain a deeper understanding of the burgeoning sports industry in China but also to explore untapped business opportunities and exchange ideas China is the new sporting hot spot, yet remains a vast and untapped market. The sports industry in China is radically expanding, with some areas of the industry striving towards commercialization, following in the footsteps of their international predecessors. The whole concept of sport in China is becoming more internationalized, shifting towards more professionalism, rethinking sports management, improving the infrastructure and boosting commercial opportunities from events. The 2004 CSII International Sports Forum will focus on the areas most directly affected by the changes currently taking place in the Chinese sports industry, namely: the financing and operation of large-scale sports events (with an emphasis on the forthcoming 2008 Beijing Olympic Games), the operation and management of professional clubs and leagues, and the commercial union between sports and entertainment. CSII China Sports Industry International hopes that by hosting this international sports forum both Chinese and International participants will benefit by gaining a deeper understanding of how best to progress with and tackle future challenges arising from China’s now burgeoning sports industry.
